Eric Woolston, drums
Eric Woolston, drums Eric Woolston is a recent arrival to the Toronto music scene. After completing his Honours Bachelor of Music degree in orchestral percussion from Wilfrid Laurier University where he studied percussion with Dave Campion and Michael Wood, Eric came to Toronto to continue studying and to build his performance and teaching career. Eric's first year in Toronto was spent as a part time student at Humber College where he studied jazz vibraphone with Mark Duggan and percussion with Mark Kelso. Currently Eric studies drum set privately with Jim Blackley and piano with Greg Dedenus. Eric is involved in numerous musical projects around Toronto. He plays drums with: The All Smiles Jazz Quartet - a long standing jazz ensemble originating from Sarnia ON, The Jeff Kearns Culmunation - a jazz based ambiant trio and with Toronto based MC SUN. On vibes Eric plays with Dan Fournier and The Pill - a dramatic sort of scary circus ensemble with odd instrumentation and witty lyrics and his own jazz vibe trio. Eric is a member of The Association of Improvising Musicians Toronto and loves playing and listening to music which is centered around improvisation. Eric is also a member of GAMTOR a Javanese gamelan ensemble based out of the Indonesian consulate and does free lance work with orchestras and production companies around Toronto. Aside from performance, Eric is a dedicated educator. He currently is the instructor of percussion at the Dixon Hall Music School and operates his own private studio.
